Why do so many people have yellow tonges?

I was watching old MTV video's, and so many people have yellow tonges. You can really see into people's mouths when they sing or yell ... I never realized how many yellow tongues there were. Why is that?

Are you sure it was not the lighting, something on the tongue, or maybe just bad color from old videos. I have never met anyone with a yellow tongue. I knew a chick in high school who's tongue turned black one time when she was sick. It was nasty looking.
