There are so many whitening products out there on the market, how does one choose? First, you need to evaluate what type of staining do you want to remove. To just remove minor surface stain, over-the-counter products might do the trick. Be careful with some of the suggestions other people have been making, you do not want to use anything that can be too abrasive on the teeth! If you want to whiten your teeth more than just a shade or two, or the stain runs deeper that just surface stain, then you will probably need some sort of bleaching product. Some can be purchased over-the-counter but their strengths are less than what your dentist can supply you with. Your dentist will usually offer you two options; 1) In-Office Bleaching (Laser Bleaching) which will give you an instant result (well within an hour or so) and 2) Take-Home Bleaching, where they will fabricate trays for you to wear on your teeth at home for an hour or so a day. To obtain a "Wow" result, you will most likely need to use a product or treatment supplied by your dentist.
